Domain Registration Speed
Thursday, July 31st, 2008I have registered several new domain names over the last few months and at the same time I set up the nameservers for the hosting.
What I noticed is that there is no apparent delay in viewing these new sites live on the web afterwards.
There was a time when it took many days for your site to become live, but now there does not seem to be any significant delay.
I guess it is because there is no human involvement in the process and there are just milliseconds between pings of servers around the globe.
This is surely true since I just registered a .co.uk name from Japan and set up hosting in Texas in the USA and the home page was showing up as soon as I copied and pasted the domain name into my browser. Sweet.
It did take a few days for my site to become live last time I registered a .co.uk and used UK-based web hosting though. I guess they have a biological element in the chain though.
What is your experience? Maybe it is slow to change hosts?
